Meet the Campbells: Scotty

Scott R. Campbell

Short Bio:

scottyScotty is the youngest of all the Campbell siblings, being 5 minutes younger than Seth and 17 minutes younger than Sly – his triplet brothers.

Even as a child Scotty displayed a love for performing, whether it was acting in school plays or singing in the school choir or in front of friends and family.  He enjoyed being on stage rather than playing sports, though that did not stop him from excelling in baseball and soccer during middle school.

Scotty learned to play piano when he was only 4 years old and later learned guitar when he was 9.  Around that time he also began to take vocal lessons and has since taught himself to play a few other instruments.  He now produces some of his own music, which he shared on his personal website, and has DJ’d a few school events and his brother Spyro’s wedding.

Since starting high school, Scotty has put more focus into producing music and acting.  He is a part of the school’s Improv Acting club and recently starred in the school’s Christmas show as the male lead.

What is it like to be the youngest child of such a large family?

Not bad. It’s crazy for sure, and I did get teased a lot, but it’s also awesome having 8 older siblings having my back when I need them.

What made you choose to get so involved in acting?

I just loved it when my elementary school classes would do plays.  It was fun seeing people smile in the audience and I just wanted to keep on doing that.

How did you feel when Spyro and Raye asked you to deejay their wedding?

I was so happy and honored…. it’s beyond explanation.

You are also into writing… what kind of stuff do you write?

I’ve done a bit of screenwriting… I’m actually working on one now for a future school production.  I’ve written a few fictional stories too.

Was there a lot of pressure when you got your first lead role in a high school production?

Oh yeah, but I was able to pull it off thanks to my cast-mates.

I know it’s early, but are you looking into any schools for college?

I’ve browsed, but I don’t have my heart set on any just yet.

If you could only be a musician, writer or actor… which would you choose?

I hate this question… but I’d choose acting.

And that wraps up Project: Meet the Campbells!  I had a lot of fun doing this project and I hope you all enjoyed reading it.  It’s going to be weird not having these posts going up during the week.  Hopefully I’ll have a new project soon enough!

Oh, and did any of you notice that the 9 of us have the initials SRC or SAC?

Congrats if you did.

Anyway, until next time… stay cute.

Meet the Campbells: Seth

Seth R. Campbell

Short Bio:

sethSeth is the 8th Campbell child and the middle triplet brother to Sly and Scotty.

Seth is known as the quietest of the siblings and other than hanging out with his same-aged brothers, he often likes to keep to himself.  Though he does enjoy the company of a few close friends.  His hobbies coincide with his quiet nature, as he is often found reading, taking pictures out around campus or sometimes playing his Nintendo DSi.

The avid reader he is, at the start of his sophomore year at the boarding school he attends he approached his English teacher with the idea of starting a book club.  It was not long before the club was approved and a decent number of students signed up, with Seth as the club’s president.

While about half of the Campbell siblings have some sight impairment and require glasses or contacts, Seth is the only sibling who is hearing impaired and cannot hear what goes on around him unless he wears hearing aids.  When Seth began to lose his hearing, he immediately began to learn American Sign Language and his siblings jumped into classes alongside him.

Seth enjoys playing all types of sports and holds a place on his school’s tennis team and had previously played for his middle school soccer team.  He also currently writes for his own blog, Tales of a Triplet, here on if you’d like to check it out.

Which of your older siblings tended to pick on you the most?

Spyro, definitely. But of course, Sam and Ian have done their share of picking on me (as well as Sly and Scotty).

What is your favorite meal and drink of choice?

I really love buffalo chicken pizza for a meal, and I love mango or peach iced tea to drink.

What drove the change from soccer to tennis?

I’ve always loved tennis.  I used to play with my dad and cousins at the country club or at the high school when I was younger, so when I made the transition to high school I decided to transition sports as well.

How have you dealt with being hearing impaired for the past few years?

I’ve tried to find the positives in it… for instance when I’m trying to read in a noisy area I just switch them off and silence is mine.

Did it make it easier that your siblings began to learn ASL with you?

Very much, it was the best thing they’ve ever done for me and I’ll never forget it.

Has ASL become a secret code that you like to use with your siblings?

At times it does.

Since you have too many favorite books to choose just one, what are your favorite movies and TV shows?

Ha, that’s the truth!  My favorite movies are Liar Liar and Recess: School’s Out.  My favorite shows are Hey Arnold and Avatar the Last Air Bender.

Ladies and gentlemen, there’s only one Campbell siblings left.  Tune in Friday to meet him!

Meet the Campbells: Sly [guest post by Seth]

Sylvester A. Campbell

Short Bio:

10644074_288090734728865_781012919_nMeet the 7th child of the Campbell family, Sylvester.

Otherwise known as Sly, he is the oldest of the only set of triplets in the family and he is also the only vegan.  Though his name suggest a devious quality, he is the exact opposite.  Growing up, Sly looked up to all his older siblings with an admiration that none of them could understand even to this day.  He spent different times in his life shadowing each of them, imitating what they did in order to learn all he could from them.

Sly began to show an interest in photography at the age of ten when one of his sister’s gave him her old camera, and he now works a few odd-jobs along with Sammy and Ian with SSI Photography.  It was around the age of thirteen when he became interested in computer repair and programming after watching Sammy fix his friend’s broken computer.  Since then he was been constantly educating himself in the field of computer programming and knows that this, along with web design, is what he wants to pursue as a career.

Despite his computer geek qualities, Sly is very much into sports and played on a community soccer team when he was younger.  He also spent a few years racing BMX in the state of Connecticut, but once he was enrolled in boarding school with his brothers, he left the sport behind.  After a year of boarding school, Sly decided he wanted to leave in favor of being home-schooled through an online academy while living with his brothers, Sammy and Ian, and their friends.

Is it weird to be separated from your triplet brothers?

Yeah, I mean, after sharing a room with them for fourteen years it was almost nerve-wracking.  It’s been almost a year now since I moved in with Sammy and Ian, so we’re getting a little more used to the arrangement, but it stinks not being in the same state as them.

What was the main reason you decided you wanted to be home-schooled?

I wanted to be able to have more time for myself to learn more about computers and web design.  I had also just become a vegan at the time, so I needed even more free time to learn to make vegan meals.

Do people ever tell you that you should just focus on being a kid?

All the time, but the thing is I’m having fun with what I’m doing, so I don’t see why people get worried about me.

Other than feeling healthier, what is another benefit of being vegan?

I’ve learned to cook and prepare my own meals.  My future wife is going to love me, ha!

Is it hard to be in a long-distance relationship with your girlfriend?

Yeah.  I definitely hate not being able to see her every day like I did when we were at school together, but we’re making it work.

What prompted you to start a blog?

I just kind of wanted a space on the internet to share my life other than updating my Facebook page.  Blogging definitely gives me a more creative way to share what’s going on in my life than, “Doing homework. Bored. Text me.”  Lame.

How has the experience of conducting “Project: Meet the Campbells” been?

This has been so much fun.  It was weird interviewing my siblings, but they enjoyed it as much as I did.  I’m even getting to hand this in for one of my class projects that we had to do about our families, so there’s a bonus to doing this other than it just being a fun project.

I just want to give a thanks to Sly for letting me conduct this interview for a guest post; it was definitely fun interviewing him for his own blog.  So, everyone tune in next week when Sly takes control of the wheel again and interviews the next in line – me!

Meet the Campbells: Ian

Sebastian A. Campbell

Short Bio:

sebSebastian, or Ian, is the 6th child of the Campbell family and the younger identical twin of Sammy.

Follow Ian on: Twitter | Instagram

Like his twin, Ian had an early interest in playing soccer and skateboarding.  Though skateboarding was more a pastime, soccer was something that he really loved and growing up he dreamed of going pro.  The dream changed when he began doing photography with his sister Serena and knew that it was something he’d want to continue doing throughout his life.

Some considered Ian to be the shadow of Sammy, but in reality he wasn’t.  True, he was the quieter of the two, but could be just as mischievous when he wanted to be.  He also differed on an academic level than his twin, as he excelled in math and history while Sammy excelled in English and science.

After graduating high school a year early alongside his brother, Ian knew right away he wasn’t ready to head off to college – he was unsure of what he wanted to do in the future.  After forming a small photography company with his brothers, SSI Photography, Ian found out that, not only did he love photography, but he loved the business aspect of it as well.  He is now a full-time college student pursuing his degree in Business and Marketing.

Does it ever get frustrating when people confuse you and Sammy?

Yes.  The only time it’s not frustrating is when we’re confusing them on purpose.

Are you enjoying living on a university campus?

Yeah, it’s different.  I do miss the freedom of living in my own place, but it’s definitely not bad.

How did you decide that you wanted to take some personal time before starting college?

I just didn’t know what I wanted to do after graduating high school, so I decided to not go to school rather than waste my time and money.

Do you still play soccer even though it’s not your dream to go pro?

Oh yeah.  Sammy and I love getting our friends together to play a game when we can.

If you did grow up to play professional soccer, what international team would you like to play for?

Where was your favorite vacation at?

When we went to England this past summer to visit our cousin.  It was fun exploring a new country and visiting the well-known landmarks of London.

In one word, how would you describe growing up in a house with eight siblings?

Six down!  We’re getting close to the end of the series everyone.  Tune in Monday for the special guest post where one of my siblings will profile and interview me.

Meet the Campbells: Sammy

Samuel R. Campbell

Short Bio:

samSammy is the second son of the Campbell kids and the identical twin brother of Ian, making the two the only set of identical twins.

Follow Sam on: Twitter | Instagram

Under the coaching of Spyro, Sammy began playing soccer at the age of five and continued to play up until his senior year of high school.  Like his brother, he knew that soccer was not what he wanted to pursue later in life.  Sammy, along with his brother, gained an interest in skateboarding and to this day still prefers to skate across town than drive.

Sammy was the first one of the family to gain a serious interest in music and formed a band with his twin and a few of their friends.  He sang and played bass for two bands over the course of four years, and his second (and most serious) band – What Lies Beneath – won their school’s talent show and even released a few songs locally.  The band’s three year reign came to an end when Sammy and his younger siblings moved to New York in his senior year of high school.

At the age of nine, Sammy fell in love with an older girl named Mia – his sister Serena’s friend.  He was known as a flirt among his sister’s friends, so the girls never took him seriously.  When he was a mere twelve years old, he and the girl whom he held feelings for finally became an item.  Over the course of the last seven years, Sammy and Mia were together on and off, but never lost their friendship.  After spending a year apart while Mia studied abroad in France, she came back surprising him and the two reunited for what seems to be for good.

Sammy now lives in a full house of seven people, though only two are his brothers and the remaining are his girlfriend and a few of their friends.  Sammy currently works freelance as a tutor and photographer and is currently a sophomore at Liberty University Online pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice and Forensics.

If you hadn’t moved in senior year, do you believe your band would still be together?

I want to say yes, but I know that the opposite is true.  We all had different interests and would’ve eventually split up once we all graduated high school and went off to college.

Do you enjoy being an identical twin as opposed to a fraternal twin?

Yes!  Ian and I have been able to pull a switch more times than I can count.  It came in handy for certain situations.  Plus, it was fun to mess around with our siblings, parents and friends. We’re basically the blonde, American version of Fred and George Weasley.

What is your go-to snack food?

Coffee ice cream.

Why did you decide to attend college online?

It allows me to keep a flexible schedule for working freelance, and I don’t have to live two hours away from Mia while she’s finishing her degree at her current school.

You and Mia have a rather interesting “first kiss” story. Care to share it?

Picture it… it’s New Year’s Eve and a twelve year old boy goes to give his girlfriend a kiss on the cheek at midnight, only she’s thinking the same thing.  So we both turned our heads and instead of kissing each others’ cheek, we ended up kissing on the lips.  It’s an experience we’ll never forget… our friends won’t either.

Do people often criticize your relationship with a girl who’s three years older than you?

Sometimes, especially when I was in high school.  Now that I’m an adult people tend to back off.  It helps that I’m nearly a foot taller than her, so every once in a while strangers will assume I’m older than her.

Is it weird to be considered a guardian to one of your younger brothers?

Considering the fact I’m only 18?  Yeah.  It’s actually too weird so I actually try not to acknowledge that unless it’s necessary.

Five down, three to go!  Four if you include the bonus guest post that is coming up soon.  Tune in Friday to meet the next Campbell sibling!

Meet the Campbells: Serena

Serena A. Campbell-Donovan

Short Bio:

sereSerena is the third and final girl of the Campbells, and the younger twin sister to Spyro.

Serena is definitely the light of the Campbell kids.  Ever since she was young she always had a positive outlook on life and saw the good in people.  If any of her siblings or friends are having a rough day she is guaranteed to cheer them up in a matter of minutes.

She is the least sporty of the girls, but still managed to put in a few years of cheerleading and volleyball, if only to hang out with her friends more.  She soon dropped both sports in favor of just sitting in the stands cheering on her friends in each of their designated sports.  When Serena and her friends moved on to college, she wanted to follow in her sister Sandy’s footsteps and pursue psychology, however she changed her major to Deaf Studies when one of her siblings began to lose his hearing.  She then began learning American Sign Language, along with the rest of the family, and in December 2014 she received her Bachelor’s degree in Deaf Studies.

In May of 2012, following a 5-year strong relationship, Serena married her high school sweetheart and on June 7th, 2014 she and her husband welcomed their first child into the world – Alyson.

Is it still hard to believe that you’re now a mother?

At times, usually when I look back at old photos of my friends and I in high school.  But being a mother is one of the best things that’s ever happened to me.

Did you ever think you’d be the first of our siblings to have children?

No way.  I always thought either Sandy or Spyro would have kids first.

What are some of your interests?

Writing, for sure.  I’ve always loved expressing my thoughts on paper.  I’m also huge on baking, now that I actually know how to without messing up.

Have you ever thought about becoming one of those mom-bloggers?

Actually, not really.  I mean, I read blogs, but I don’t think I have the discipline to keep up with one.

Where can we find you on typical Saturday morning?

Baking and talking to Aly while she sits in her high chair eating and throwing her food.  Thankfully, I’m usually joined by my husband who makes sure I don’t slip on her mess.

Was it hard to juggle work, school and being a new mother?

Yes, but thankfully I only had two classes my very last semester, so that was some relief.

Do you have any plans for that Deaf Studies degree?

I’m thinking of working in a school where they need an assistant to sign for students in a classroom or just becoming an interpreter in general.  I would prefer the school setting though.

There she is, my last sister to profile.  Still have four more brother to go!  Tune in next week to meet the next Campbell sibling!

Meet the Campbells: Spyro

Spyridon A. Campbell

spyroShort Bio:

Spyro is the first-born son of the family, is the fraternal-twin brother of Serena and to clarify, no, he is not a small purple dragon.

Follow Spyro on: Twitter | Instagram

During his childhood, Spyro kept himself occupied with soccer and teasing his younger brothers.  As the oldest boy of the family he found himself getting into the most trouble, but not any serious trouble.  In his early teenage years he took a short interest in writing while he harbored hidden feelings for his twin sister’s best friend.  It was the summer of 2008 when he built up the courage to ask her out, the winter of 2010 they would have their first major fight, the summer of 2012 he would ask her to marry her and the fall of 2014 they would say “I do.”

Throughout high school Spyro played on the varsity soccer team, but had no intentions of continuing after graduation.  After attending the University of Connecticut for two semesters, he knew that college was not his calling (despite his high SAT scores) and dropped out to work full-time between two jobs.  In the spring of 2014 he enrolled at the Connecticut School of Broadcasting in the radio program and upon graduation worked part-time as in intern at a local radio station.

Now married and living near Boston, Massachusetts while his wife attends Harvard Law, Spyro works as a production assistant in one of Boston’s radio stations and is eager to work his way up in the field.

Did you get teased a lot growing up because of your name?

All the time.  I don’t get teased about it anymore, but I do get a questioning look when I introduce myself to new people.

Was it a hard decision to leave college after your first year?

A little.  I was more or less worried that my parents would be disappointed, but my sisters helped me get through telling them and they were shockingly okay with it.

You played soccer for most of your life, did you ever consider going pro?

No.  Soccer was always just something fun for me to do.

Did it ever get weird being in a relationship with your twin sister’s best friend?

At times, especially when we would fight, and we fought quite a lot over the years.  We even broke up a few times.  It was weird because I didn’t want to get my sister involved, but at the same time I wanted her on my side because I’m her twin.

I asked Sabrina, so I’ll ask you… now that you’re married, any chance I’ll be getting a new niece or nephew in the future?

Ha, no.  I can’t say that I’m a hundred percent sure that Raye and I won’t have kids, but we both know right now that we’re not in the place to have any now.

What is your favorite pastime?

I love going to the gun range and archery… your typical American hobbies.

Are you happy with where your life is right now?

Yeah, I am.  I never thought my life would turn out this way, but I’m glad it did and I’m super grateful for everyone in my life.

I bet you still don’t believe my brother’s name is Spyro, well, believe it.  ‘Cause it’s true.  Tune in Friday to meet Spyro’s twin sister, Serena!
