While I’ve Been Away…

I’ve been away from my blog for a while, and I really don’t have a reason other than that blogging hasn’t been a major priority.  I’ve kind of missed writing and sharing bits of my life and my thoughts on topics, but it is what it is, right?  In any case, here are some of the things that have happened since I last wrote on my blog (which was in September 2016).

  • I visited NYC for Christmas.
  • I’ve been acing all my classes.
  • I got a part-time job in a coffee shop.
  • I celebrated my 3 year anniversary with my girlfriend.
  • I’ve been accepted to two colleges so far.

There’s more mundane things that have happened over the past 7-8 months, but nothing worth mentioning.

Even though I’m waiting to hear back from a few colleges, I’m fairly certain I know where I’ll be attending in the fall.  It’s near my girlfriend’s hometown and she has also been accepted to that university already.  And I already have my major picked out – computer science/information technology – as that’s what I’ve been doing on my own over the years.  The nice thing is that thanks to the Dual program I’m in at my online school now, I’ll already have an Associate’s Degree and general education classes will be knocked out already.  I could probably graduate with my Bachelor’s within two years if I wanted to.

I think I’m going to take my time though.  I’m young, and in no rush to become a “full adult” anytime soon.

So, that’s what’s been going on with me.

How have you been?

The Rough Part of Veganism

For me, the hardest part of being a vegan is finding new places to eat when in a new area.

I’m sure it’s easier to find places to eat nowadays than it was years ago, but it’s still somewhat hard when you’re a little picky.

Now that we’ve moved to a new state, I’ve been on the lookout for vegan-friendly or all vegan restaurants.  I came across a vegan Thai cuisine restaurant, but I haven’t tried it yet.  When it comes to oriental food I’m very particular about what I eat.  But I have decided that I will try it at some point, but preferably with someone who enjoys Thai food in case I don’t like it.

In the meantime I’ve been making my own food, which I usually prefer.  However, with the start of my senior year of online school and looking for a job, I’m somewhat limited on time.  I have the time now until I get a job, but hopefully I won’t have to search for one for too long.

I’m thinking it might be a good idea if I make a few different meals and freeze them so I’ll have something on hand if I don’t have time or feel like cooking.  Salads are easy too.

I guess it’s not that hard being vegan.

Moving… Again.

We’re moving to another state.

When I say “we” I mean my brother Sammy and his girlfriend Mia.  We’re moving up to Illinois, just a few towns away from where my other brothers, Seth and Scotty, and my girlfriend go to boarding school.

Needless to say, I’m very excited to be near those three again.  It’s going to make our senior year the best ever.  Yeah, I know, I’m an online student.  But that means I’ll be more flexible to be able to go visit them and they’ll be able to stay over on the weekends if they want to.

So Illinois will be the forth state I’ve lived in, since I don’t count being at boarding school as living there because it wasn’t permanent.  Before that I have lived in Connecticut, New York and Virginia.  My favorites have been my home state (CT) and Virginia.  New York was okay, but I didn’t live there for too long.

I’m excited for this new adventure, even though it means starting new and saying goodbye to friends.  At least it’s not goodbye forever.  I’m sure they’ll be visiting soon enough.  In fact, my brother’s best friend is planning on moving up here when he’s done with this coming fall semester.

That’s still a few months away though.
